With less than 24 hours until our thru hike, we thought it would be fun to do a Q&A about what we expect to happen over the next 5 months and what we like now compared to what we will like in 5 months. We know that this thru hike is going to change our perception and opinion on many things and we would like to document how we are feeling now and how we feel afterwards!
1. What state do you love the most on the Appalachian Trail?
Danny: New Hampshire
Molly: Maine
2. What are you most looking forward to every day?
Danny: Seeing the changes of scenery and season.
Molly: Waking up to the sound of birds in the morning.
3. What trail food is your favorite?
Danny: Tuna Molly: Fruit Leather
4. What is the biggest lesson you want to learn on the trail?
Danny: To stay motivated, confident, and to not be lazy.
Molly: To be present in every moment.
5. What 3 things will you miss the most?
Danny: Family, Indoor Plumbing, and Late Night Snacking
Molly: Family, Taking Baths, and Sleeping with 6 Pillows
6. What is your favorite piece of gear?
Danny: Umbrella
Molly: Hammock
7. What are you going to miss the least?
Danny: The ideology of materialism equating to happiness.
Molly: Not being able to get fresh air whenever I want it.
8. What are you most afraid of?
Danny: Dangerous Weather
Molly: My body becoming injured or unable to continue.
9. What is the best part about thru hiking as a couple?
Danny: Being able to talk about an experience that you can both relate to after it ends.
Molly: Creating a bond that's strong enough to overcome anything.
10. Do you think your answers will stay the same?
Danny: None of them will stay the same because perception is very different than reality and my brain can't comprehend walking 2200 miles.
Molly: I think most will change, but 1 or 2 answers will stay the same.
